Ephemera ......

Contract .. Contract ... where's that contract ...?

Well, here are a few ...

Eleven pages, this one ... remember this show? Polly James and Lewis Fiander, if I recall. Hmmmm. Mrs Longford was on ten percent of Mrs Allen's receipts. She wouldn't have got much in the end. Flopperoooooooo.

This one was a better show, and didn't do too badly ... but I always thought it a strange subject to choose. After the brilliance of Robert and Elizabeth.  Especially as the idea came -- why? -- from confirmed bachelor Ronnie Millar ...   only eight pages, this one. But fatal words: 'whole production under the control of Martin Landau'.

Oh, this one is a bit different. Its an un-contract. WHAT was 'Baroness' Bertice up to? The details of her married life (three days) are detailed on page 2. I had never known, before, that her real name was MEIER...

Film contracts were more concise. Dora Bryan as 'Guest star' in The Hands of the Ripper? Good grief! I wonder what she played! 'Mrs Golding'. Five days at 250 quid a day? Not bad in 1971.

Letters! Letters ... I do like letters ...

Look at this one, for example, concerning the musical which ultimately became CABARET

Attached are the reply and reply to the reply ...

Oh, Lord, there are so many ...

Here's a fun one!

Harold's CINDERELLA and Tommy Steele's West End debut ...

Woohoo. Once nighly, 10 percent of the gross, or one thousand three hundred pound a week!  First star billing, and an inked addition stipulates that his name must appear ABOVE that of Jimmy Edwards 'on all standard printing'. Harold got his sneaky in too: up to twelve performances a week at the Manager's discretion ..

The pile doesn't seem to be getting any smaller. But that's enough for today!
