Woman is a puzzlement, or the last roses of autumn

If there's one woman I don't understand, it's mother nature ...

Summer announced a firm finish weeks back. The first tiny frosts came. The potato patch is empty, the tomato vine has withered, the cucumber and courgette plants are signing off ... the roses were petal-less and looking prune-able ...

OK. It's autumn. Or winter disguised as autumn. Fire burning. Extra blankets...

Then I go outside, and the woman (Madame Nature) has changed her mind ....

Is it because Wendy ladled oodles of peastraw around everything in preparation for the winter?

Tibby is puzzled too. She is off into the wild, wild wood to find Dame Nature and ask a few mewmentous questions about the meaning of life
