EMILY: Whoops, she's done it again!

Yesterday morning, I got the photos of Emily winning her race at Winton.

The days have gone when I said "no horsey pix in the living room!". My two winning-most trotters, SEPPL and DAVEY CROCKETT have, heretofore, only impinged upon the kitchen ...

But EMILY has changed all that. I can't get on a ladder and wield a hammer any more, but the sprightly Nigel did the trick ... and now, when I relax in my LaZyboy I look at a whole row of Emilys .. four wins and our Murray memorial.

Nigel said jokingly 'there is room for a couple more'. Well, about two hours later ...

Emily has begun her new racing chapter, with Kirstin in Southland, wonderfully: the Winton win, the splendid second to Joeking at Gore ...

We were looking forward to watching Joeking taking on the top juveniles at Addington this week, but alas, he was scratched. Emily must have wore him out :-)

Yesterday, it was Wyndham. Well, a wee while ago, after being outgunned by the Williamson family's horses, I groanedly said 'we'll have to put a blockade on the north SH1 ..' *Explanation, the Willies live to the north, Kirstin to the south.

Well. Yesterday, down south, it rained. And it rained. And rained. And flooded. And guess what happened. The highway north was closed!  I felt like a necromancer....

Emily was slated to run in a 9-horse trot (prizemoney $11k). Not the 'main' trot (prizemoney $13k) because of her R43 ranking, no Joeking this time, but four less starry Williamson horses. However, when the TAB opened -- what? None of them was favourite, nor Emily, but MONARCH PRINCE, which had been runner-up to our girl at Winton. And the tellytipsters were all going mad for him.  The ways of racing are not quite clear, I must say. I wonder why...

And then came the news. The SH1 was closed, and all the Willie trotters were scratched. That left just five runners in our race. But the favourites were still there ...   Next news: Kirstin couldn't get through the 'barricade' either! Em was going to have to have her third different driver in three races!

Track: slushy. Not deep at all. Young Quinn Raceway looked beautifully unflooded ... Em quite likes slushy. She had better do, now that she lives in Southland!  Mark Hurrell replaced Kirstin the the sulky. The betting yo-yoed up and down, Monarch Prince was favourite with the bookies, Emily on the tote ...

Away they went. Monarch Prince soon went to the front, and Mark dropped Emily out some half-a-dozen lengths away. They went at a reasonable clip, and on the home turn Mark pulled Emily out for a three-wide run ... Monarch Prince was done for, as the little lady cruised past ...

We didn't really even shout at the telly ...

The top was off the bubbly nicely before the line ...

3 mins 06.4 secs.  Mile rate: 2mins 04.9.  On slushy? Not bad.

So ... here goes one of those two spaces on the living room wall!

Just for the record, the 'main' trot was won by ABADABADO which chased Em home at Gore. Time? 3.11.6. Mile rate 2.08.4.  'Main'?

OK. Onwards and upwards .. what next?  Little girl, you are giving us so much fun and delight!

PS Love you BILL BOOTIT .... lucky owner! We won't be there next week (wee rest!) so I'll be cheering for you!
