Important annual event in a farmer's life.
We don't make as much hay these days as in the past, but we're still talking about a couple of thousand dollars worth. And if it rains in the small window of time in which your hay is mown, dried, turned, baled an got into the barn ... well, even the not-so-picky beasts on the farm will turn their muzzles up at it ..
This year, in spite of all the comings and goings at Gerolstein, we got it just right! Hurrah!
Yesterday neighbour Si came by with his Machinery ...
Dear friends Jen and Trevor came by with rolled up sleeves ... Wendy hove to with a will and the farm bike ..
At the approach of dusk, 200-plus bales were in the shed ...
Then it rained.
So that's that over till 2027 ...
